Get to know me better

I write to foster positive interactions between employees and managers and enhance organizational communication. My goal is to empower both groups and create a workplace where mutual respect and effective communication thrive.
James Herriot, the British veterinarian and author, has profoundly impacted my writing. Having grown up with his books, I’ve always admired how he could evoke emotions, seamlessly blending humor and empathy.
I enjoy reading management and leadership books because they provide great insights that help me grow professionally. At the same time, I enjoy science fiction because it lets me escape into imaginative worlds and have a lot of fun.
Though I am trained in research writing and am skilled at it, I prefer a more casual style. I aim to evoke emotions, making readers laugh and care. This approach allows me to connect deeper by blending humor and empathy and inspire my audience.
I’ve always dreamed of becoming a cartoonist. In the ’70s, I drew cartoon characters every Saturday morning, aspiring to work for Warner Brothers on Looney Tunes. Nearing retirement, I’ve made this dream a reality by publishing my first comic book.
The journey of publishing my first book was dramatic. My initial attempt with a vanity publisher failed. Determined, I chose to self-publish with KDP, finding great success. This experience taught me resilience and the value of taking control.
My book Seagull Management Comics: Max Manages Up! was published with KDP in July 2024.
I’m following up with a second book focused on the evolution of Edmund, the Seagull Manager. Readers will experience Edmund’s journey from a horrible Seagull Manager to a tolerable one. The comic book will be twice the size of the first book.
